Business As Usual - No Charge to Our Clients for CDS Upgrade

Tuesday 17th April 2018

The HMRC CHIEF replacement, CDS, is due to be rolled out from summer 2018 through to the beginning of 2019.

The introduction of CDS brings changes; changes to the the communication route, changes to the format of the electronic declarations, changes to some of the data elements, changes to access mechanisms. All these changes have an impact on the Duty Management/Reporting software operated directly by many importers/exporters.

We were and are one of the 5 software houses at the forefront of the development (not surprising when you consider the many millions of customs declarations generated by our software on behalf of our client base).

One of our users contacted us in the last few days to ask; "Will you be charging for the CDS upgrade?"

Our answer is No - the CDS "upgrade" is part of our ongoing maintenance commitment to our clients - we commit to providing "Additions, modifications or amendments necessary to the Software to meet with changes in legislation" - it is our view that CDS is one such change.

To reinforce this commitment to our clients, we have arranged a free of charge user meeting in late June (with HMRC in attendance) to talk through the changes.

Where do you stand on the CDS upgrade?
